The Make-Up of the Church

Ordinary people from all kinds of backgrounds and age groups make the Christians Alive  family what it is. Whilst we are a fairly young church in terms of  average age, we do have active members whose children have flown the nest, as well as a few wonderful senior citizens. The biggest life-phase group of the church currently is made up of families with young teenagers, children, toddlers and babies, and we also have a great bunch of single adults and a swathe of students from the two local universities. So all ages are currently present and are welcome.

Whatever part of the globe people come from, we are one family in Jesus Christ. The cultural differences that we have enhance and enrich our worship and we believe demonstrate what the Kingdom of God is about. One people, One God. Currently we are predominantly made up of British, African, European and Asian people, but are ready for any Australasians, Americans, Eskimos or even Martians who may want to come and check us out……

We also believe that a person’s history, financial status or standing in society should not exclude them from being part of this family, and we actively seek to help and embrace those on the margins of society. We seek to accommodate everyone in the family without prejudice, but we also do take seriously the protection of the whole church community.

We believe that we will become even more diverse as we attract a wider spectrum of people in to God’s family through our lives and the sharing of the Good News of Jesus Christ Our aim is to be  a family in which we hope people of every age, class, ethnicity and life experience will find a home.
