Church in the Home
One of the hallmarks of Christians Alive when we started meeting in a home in 1999 was this – we were determined to be first and foremost a family, not an institution. We believe this is the reason that God brings salvation to people whom He creates; because He wants a family.
Part of our vision has always been to be a family where every member knows his or her worth to God and to the other members, and to ensure that every member has the opportunity to grow and give within the family. We believe this goes far beyond attending meetings and serving in a role. We see a very organic model of church in the early chapters of Acts of the Apostles which we believe is effective in enabling Christians to truly grow and serve God, and which can be a real influence in a localised area.
To this end, we’re excited to announce that in January 2012 our first Church In The Home will be launched. A dozen adults plus children from the Scotforth area, led by Dan and Helen Vernon, will meet together in homes to “do life” together and live out the Gospel. Every few weeks Christians Alive White Cross and Church In The Home will meet as one congregation at our White Cross centre for celebration and worship. We will also come together for times of Bible teaching and for our children’s and youth programmes throughout the week.
This is just the first Church in the Home, so watch this space……
